Recruiting: Jackson Another Navarro Prospect

Toby Jackson

Checking on junior college prospects we found out that Navarro (Texas) College's Michael Bowie intends to return to Oklahoma State where he signed out of Sand Springs (Page H.S.), Okla. Bowie might be making the trip back to Stillwater with one of his junior college teammates as defensive end Toby Jackson said he has an interest in Oklahoma State.

"Coach (Glenn) Spencer has been calling me and talking to me about Oklahoma State," said Jackson. "He calls me and tells me about what it is like up there.

"They have told me they are offering but they haven't made it official yet. I am interested in Oklahoma State. I'm interested in anybody that is interested in recruiting me. I'll give them attention and check them out and then in the end I will make the best decision for me," said Jackson.

Originally out of Griffin, Ga., where he was a star for three seasons, Jackson has been somewhat well traveled. He narrowed his choice down in high school to Miami, Southern Cal, Alabama, and Georgia before committing to Georgia.

However, when he did not qualify academically he made his way to Hargrave Military Academy in Chatham, Virginia. The prep school helped but he transferred to Navarro in Corsicana, Texas, where last season as a freshman he had 33 tackles with 12 of those unassisted and six tackles for loss and a sack.

"I played pretty good, ok," said the 6-5, 260-pound Jackson, who can run a 4.69 in the forty. "I can play way better and I will play a lot better this upcoming season."

Jackson reports that he will graduate from Navarro in December and be ready to transfer. He reports two written offers so far, from Baylor and Alabama, but he has his eyes on more.
