Recruiting: White To Visit OSU, Coach Says

Darius White

Oklahoma State is expecting several visitors this weekend including commits Caleb Lavey and Devin Hedgepeth but the biggest name expected to make the trip to Stillwater is five-star wide receiver Darius White of Fort Worth (Dunbar), Texas. White and possibly his mother will be making the trip to Oklahoma State on his official visit, Dunbar High head coach Todd Lawson confirmed Wednesday afternoon.

"Yes, he's planning to make the trip to Oklahoma State this weekend. I know he's going to be there.Hopefully the weather holds up and he's able to make it," Lawson told GoPokes.com. "He's always said that was going to be one of his five official visits."

The 6-foot-4, 195-pound White is ranked as the 14th-best high school prospect in the United States by Scout.com, and the nation's third best wide receiver.

However, he did not have the type of senior season that many expected, finishing with 20 catches for 444 yards and seven touchdowns in just seven games. But Lawson said that was because White battled the flu and then had a serious ankle injury which sidelined him. "Then when he came back we just used him as a decoy for a few games," Lawson said.

White will be making the trip to Stillwater by himself, unless his mother is able to accompany him, Lawson said. "She's trying to work out the details, and I'm waiting to hear back from her right now," said the Dunbar coach.

Lawson said that Oklahoma State, Texas, Oklahoma and LSU are in a four-school race for White's services, and that the standout wide receiver plans to let his decision be known at the U.S. Under Armour/ESPN High School All-American Game on Jan. 2 in Orlando.

White has taken official visits to Utah (Sept. 25) and Texas (Nov. 20), and has made several unofficial visits to Oklahoma this fall.

Lawson said that he didn't know if White would be making any other official visits prior to the Under Armour game. "If he does, he's better hurry because time is running short," said Lawson.
