Two-time All-American golfer Rickie Fowler has informed his Oklahoma State coaches and teammates that he "more than likely" will turn professional later this year and not return to OSU for his junior season, Golfweek is reporting.

Fowler told Golfweek senior writer Ron Balicki that he will probably turn professional after representing the United States in the Walker Cup Match in September.

The 20-year-old Fowler was a first team Ping All-American in both of his first two years while playing for the Cowboys, and was the first freshman ever to receive the Ben Hogan Award.

Fowler won the third tournament of his collegiate career -- the Aggie Invitational in April -- and placed outside the top 20 just once in 12 starts during his sophomore season. He finished in a tie for third place at the NCAA Championships in May at Inverness Club in Toledo, Ohio.

Fowler finished his sophomore season ranked sixth in the nation, behind OSU teammate Morgan Hoffmann who finished the year as No. 2 in the rankings.

Fowler qualified to compete in the U.S. Open earlier this summer for the second consecutive year. He missed the cut at Bethpage Black in New York.

The Walker Cup is scheduled Sept. 12-13 at Merion Golf Club in Ardmore, Pa.

"Playing in the last Walker Cup was so special," Fowler told Golfweek of being a member of the winning United States team in 2007 when he posted a 3-0-1 record. "It was an experience and I wanted to do it one more time."
