Cowboy Practice Report: Going Prime Time

STILLWATER - Because of graduation the Oklahoma State Cowboy football team went prime time for its Saturday practice as close to 50 onlookers watched the open practice that lasted just over an hour and a half.

The Cowboys worked on just PAT and field goal during the special teams period and then continued some coverage drills for players covering kickoffs and punts.

The practice schedule was similar to Friday's practice with work on several phases of the offense. They worked the passing game extensively in seven-on-seven work. There was also work on the run for both offense and defense against each other and against scout teams dressed in Oregon green. The practice wrapped up with tackle/cut drill work and then 100-yard sprints.

"Practice went really well. I thought it was a lot more upbeat than a couple of the other days," said co-offensive coordinator Gunter Brewer.

"They hadn't been bad, but I thought this one was better. We started to put in some of the things we have planned for the Ducks and the weather cooperated. We had graduation and we had five guys walk and we are looking forward to continuing preparation tomorrow with no distractions with school," Brewer continued.

The one thing missing from Saturday's practice was the three-on-three drill with added work for the younger players. That has become a highlight of the last several practices, but Saturday night's drills were in shoulder pads and helmets.
