Oklahoma State sophomore wide receiver Dez Bryant has been recognized for his outstanding 2008 season by being named to the AFCA Coaches All-America Team it was announced Thursday by the American Football Coaches Association.

The Lufkin, Texas product caught 74 passes for 1,313 yards and 18 touchdowns this past season in helping the Cowboys to a 9-3 record. Bryant's 109.4 receiving yards per game ranks third nationally and his 18 touchdowns ranks second.

Bryant had two of the top 10 receiving games in the nation this past season. Against Houston, he finished with 236 receiving yards (on nine catches), which is the second-best total in Oklahoma State history and the second-best receiving game in the nation in 2008.

Bryant had a career-best 11 catches for 212 yards and a pair of touchdowns in the Cowboys' 34-6 victory over Baylor, and the 212 yard total ranks as th 10th best game nationally.

His 74 pass receptions is the fourth best single-season total in school history, while his 1,313 yards rank third on the all-time receiving charts. His 18 touchdown catches broke the single-season record of 17 previously held by Rashaun Woods.

The AFCA All-America honor is the latest honor for the Cowboy receiver, who was recently named a finalist for the Biletnikoff Award and a first-team All-Big 12 selection.
