Although Oklahoma State’s seventh-ranked football team came up on the short end of the scoreboard against the No. 1-ranked Texas Longhorns, the Cowboys may have come out the big winners. Boone Pickens said during Saturday’s nationally televised broadcast and in an interview with the Cowboy Radio Network that he is going to announce another donation to OSU on Monday.

There was been speculation in recent days that the $165 million donation that was subsequently placed in BP Capital hedge fund had been lost. Pickens said that the fund has lost nearly $1 billion and is down about 60 percent but “we still have plenty of money,” he told Robert Allen during the Cowboy radio broadcast of Saturday’s game.

Pickens then added, “I will announce on Monday another major gift to the university. No way am I ever going to let OSU come out short, you know that.”

The $165 million donation by Pickens in December 2006 and other donations were to be used to finish the west end zone project of Boone Pickens Stadium – which is nearly 85 percent completed and on schedule to be finished early next summer – and the subsequent construction of the Athletic Village to include new facilities for the baseball, softball, soccer, track and field, and equestrian programs.
