Recruiting: Hart Likes Family Atmosphere

Darius Hart

It was an eventful weekend for Pearl River Community College defensive lineman Darius Hart as the Poplarville, Miss., native registered a sack, a fumble recovery, along with several other tackles in a major top-10 junior college win Thursday over rival Jones C.C. in Mississippi. Both teams were ranked in the top 10.

Less than 24 hours later Hart was in Stillwater, Okla., being hosted by former Jones C.C. standout and current Oklahoma State defensive end Jeremiah Price on an official visit to Stillwater.

"Jeremiah Price was my host and I knew him from playing against him in junior college," said Hart. "He (Price) had a pretty good game (Saturday against Texas A&M), but (laughing) I did have bragging rights on the weekend."

The 6-6, 255-pound Hart is a major target for the Cowboys and he is also being recruited by Louisville (10/25), Kansas State (11/15), Louisiana Tech and Troy. Oklahoma State was his first official visit and he said the Cowboys are his clubhouse leader.

"I would say they are my favorite right now, at the top of my list," said Hart speaking from the Dallas-Fort Worth Airport where he was connecting for the final leg of his trip back to Pearl River.

"They are my first visit, but I really enjoyed myself and what I liked most is the family atmosphere that they have going there. The game was great and they played really well on defense, lots of turnovers and some touchdowns. They fed me pretty good too, and my grandma liked that."

His grandma was not with him as Hart said he made the trip alone, but he obviously had made a call home to grandma.

Hart said he is already looking forward to his game next Saturday, it's homecoming at Pearl River.

Recruiting will stir back up later in October and into November with official visits. Most important is that Hart will need to make his decision on a timetable before mid-December as he is a mid-term graduate and will be an early signee, allowing him to be at his new home for the spring semester and spring football.
