Steven Campbell is a 6-0, 186 pound combo defensive back out of Jersey Village, near Houston. Campbell reports that he is running a 4.48 in the 40-yard dash as he has just finished up track season. He is also getting very popular now that college coaches are seeing him out on the football field in spring practice, which will conclude at Jersey Village on Thursday with the spring game.

"It has been going good," said Campbell of his recruiting contacts. "TCU was at the school yesterday. Fresno State was at school last week and Iowa State earlier in the week. Before that Oklahoma State was here and they said they were strongly considering offering me a scholarship."

His head coach, former Moore (Okla.) High School head coach David Snokhous says that just about every school that has come through this spring has offered or is close to offering Campbell.

"He is a quiet kid that doesn't speak up all that much, but he will communicate with you on the football field by knocking your head off," said Snokhous. "He knocked a couple of guys out of games last year and a couple of his hits knocked balls loose."

That kind of style of play cries safety, but Campbell says most of the schools have talked about him playing cornerback and then possibly moving to safety. His speed will get your attention as far as trying him out on the edge. Campbell has also heard from SMU, Rice, Arizona, and Utah. He also has a good idea of what he is looking for in a school.

"I want to major in business," he said. "I am looking for a small town, college town and big time football."
