Wednesday's Spring Practice Rained Out

STILLWATER - Oklahoma State head coach Mike Gundy and his staff made the decision around 2:30 p.m. Wednesday afternoon to postpone the 14th practice session of the spring. By that time it had been raining close to an hour and a half, most of the time heavy. Sometimes working in the rain can be productive but that wasn't the case Wednesday.

By the end of the afternoon no decision had been made as to when they would make up that practice. One coach suggested that they would play it by ear as the weather forecast has a lot of rain included until late Friday. The forecast for Saturday and the Orange-White Game is actually sunshine and temperatures in the mid-60s.

As for the two teams, the Orange and the White, those were determined by the staff in meetings on Tuesday and Wednesday, but will not be released until later in case any adjustments have to be made. Gundy did give some hints Monday on some positions.

"We don't have a two-deep at tight end," said Gundy. "I doubt we'll play (Brandon) Pettigrew, and Wilson (Youman) needs the work, so we're not really two deep there and that will limit our two tight-end formations in the game.

"Beau (Johnson) and Spud (Kendall Hunter) have stayed healthy at running back but we'll split them up. We are okay for the most part, we have depth at wide out, depth in the offensive line and depth in the defensive line, which we haven't had in the past, which is really nice.

"(Alex) Cate and (Brandon) Weeden, we may let them play a lot more than Zac (Robinson)," added Gundy, addressing the quarterback situation. "Play Zac just a little bit and then let Cate and Weeden battle it out. They actually played better in the last scrimmage, but they both need as much work as they can get."

Cowboys senior cornerback Jacob Lacey knows who he would like to have on his team as he issued a watch list among the offensive players and a couple of his defensive teammates.

"I would say watch watch number 16 (Perrish Cox) and watch the punisher, big Lucien Antoine," said Lacey. "Besides number 11 (Zac Robinson) and number 1 (Dez Bryant), I'm going to give that to double D, number 85 (Damian Davis)," added Lacey of the top offensive players to watch on Saturday.

Whenever the Cowboys make up Wednesday's postponed practice it is a closed workout. Gundy would like to get it in either Thursday or Friday and not carry over a practice to the following week.
