Defensive coordinator Tim Beckman and the defensive coaching staff are back to awarding black shirts to deserving defensive players. The black practice jerseys signify excellence on and off the field and in all areas. The jerseys are awarded on a system and can be taken back just as they are given.

The four players that have already earned the distinction are cornerback Jacob Lacey, safety Ricky Price, star linebacker Andre Sexton, and defensive tackle Jeray Chatham.

One Recruit Watching
Quarterback Clint Chelf of Enid, Okla., and his father were visitors to the OSU practice on Wednesday. They watched the entire practice and were greeted before the practice by co-offensive coordinator Gunter Brewer. Chelf is a good size quarterback looking to be about 6-3 tall, and weighing 190 to 200 pounds.

Practice Visitors
Other visitors to practice on Wednesday included the coaching staffs from both Langston University and Southwestern Oklahoma State University.

Former Cowboys assistant Johnny Barr, who most recently was on the administrative staff of Dennis Franchionne at Texas A&M, was also in attendance. Barr served two tours of duty at OSU on Pat Jones' staff and on the tsaff of Bob Simmons. Recent linebacker coach Todd Bradford, who left with Larry Fedora to become the defensive coordinator at Southern Miss, was also on hand at practice.
