Oklahoma State led by five points at halftime and the Cowboys appeared to be ready to end a 15-game road losing streak Saturday afternoon in Ames, Iowa. But the Cowboys couldn’t close out the game and saw Iowa State rally for a 73-66 victory in the Big 12 Conference contest at Hilton Coliseum.

The Cowboys, 10-7 overall and 1-2 in Big 12 play, have not won a true road game in nearly two years. The last road victory was on Feb. 4, 2006 in Manhattan, Kans., against Kansas State.

The 16-game road losing skid is the fourth longest in the history of OSU basketball.

The Cowboys will have to wait a while before getting their next chance to end the streak. OSU plays its next two games inside the friendly confines of Gallagher-Iba Arena, although neither will be easy as the Cowboys play host to a pair of Top 25 teams – Monday night in a nationally televised Big Monday game against 19th-ranked Texas and next Saturday versus ninth-ranked Texas A&M.

This team’s next chance to make sure they don’t set the all-time record for most consecutive road wins comes on Monday, Jan. 28, in a Big Monday game (to be shown on ESPN) against Oklahoma in Norman.

Senior Marcus Dove and junior Terrel Harris led the Cowboys with 17 points each, while Obi Muonelo added 16.
