Recruiting: Richards To Enroll Early

After a crowded recruiting weekend the prospects are starting to head home, and we first caught up with early Oklahoma State commitment Adrian Richards of Mesquite, Texas. The 6-3, now 190-pound wide receiver was driving home with his parents.
"The visit was really good," said Richards. "Each time I'm up here I learn a little more. The remodeling (of the stadium) is going really good. It looks great, and the academics are really good. I learned a lot more there."
Richards was speaking as his dad was driving south on I-35 and he said the road conditions were a little icy, but they were making it fine.
"I think I'll major in something in engineering," said Richards, who scored four touchdowns this past season for a predominantly run offense at Mesquite. "Maybe, graphic design or something like that. I'm still thinking about it. I'm going to head home and work on finishing up and graduating early so I can be here for the spring semester and get started."
The last part there was a little surprise to us as Richards will join Stephenville, Texas quarterback
Kody Spano
as early high school enrollees for this spring. During the visit Richards was hosted by Cowboy defensive end Ugo Chinasa, who is also from the Dallas Metroplex, coming from Richardson Berkner.
"We buddied up and I hung around with him and some of his friends," added Richards, who also said there are more coming.
"On Saturday, when coach asked who was ready to commit, me and Kody and an offensive lineman (believed to be
Andrew Mitchell
stood up) and then other guys just started to commit. There were a bunch of them."
That news makes it sound like it was a successful weekend for Mike Gundy and his staff. They also know they are getting a very talented high school wide receiver a little earlier than maybe expected with
Adrian Richards
coming in for the spring.
