Recruiting: JUCO Title Game MVP To Visit OSU

Normally we wouldn't talk to a prospect on consecutive weeks unless there was a development in their recruitment, but when a running back goes for 288 yards on 26 carries and four touchdowns in a junior college national championship game then that's something you gotta hear about.

Butler County (Kans.) Community College running back Beau Johnson showed that neither the snow nor the Snow (Utah) Junior College Badgers could slow him down this past weekend. Johnson ravaged the Badgers in Salt Lake City last Saturday in helping second-ranked Butler to a 56-27 title win over No. 1-ranked Snow. Included in Johnson's 288-yard effort was a season long 80-yard touchdown run. Many of his yards came on a field covered in two inches of snow.

"Yes sir, it was a lot of fun," said Johnson in one of the great understatements of the season. "I was just relaxed before the game and I had no idea I was going to have that good of a game."

Johnson said he had never played football in the snow before, but agreed it won't ever be a problem if the situation comes up again. Here's a back the Green Bay Packers or Denver Broncos would have to love.

Johnson simply couldn't be stopped Saturday by a defense that had played the run outstanding all season long.

"After that first hit, I just said to myself, 'let's go,'" added Johnson. "I kept getting nice pickups all afternoon long."

Johnson said he has not heard from a lot of schools since the game. The only visit he has set up is this weekend to Oklahoma State on a visit in which he will be accompanied by fellow Butler national champion teammates in defensive tackle Swanson Miller and cornerback Maurice Gray.

Johnson's MVP day in the bowl and title game on Saturday bring his season numbers to 263 carries for 1,756 yards and 19 touchdowns.
