Tight end Eric Lair of Houston (Lamar), Texas, is a prize tight end prospect. The 6-4, 220-pounder has near wide receiver speed and a big frame. Lair committed to Minnesota and first-year head coach Tim Brewster earlier this fall after visiting on Oct. 19.

"I'm committed to Minnesota," confirmed Lair. "It was mainly because of the coaches. They are nice and cool guys. Also when I was up there at the game I thought I could come in and make an immediate impact with the team. They also have a good recruiting class coming in."

Lair said he caught 17 passes this fall at Lamar for 243 yards and seven touchdowns. He did say he is going to take a visit to Oklahoma State.

"I'm going to visit Oklahoma State on Dec. 7, next week," he said. "It is closer to home and I want to check it out."

Cowboys assistant head coach Joe DeForest is the recruiting coach on Lair and the Cowboys are now looking to add tight ends to their class in case All-Big 12 tight end Brandon Pettigrew decides to go early to the NFL.
