The 6-4, 225-pound Reid has completed 105 of 185 passes for 1,739 yards and 19 touchdowns in leading the Cowboys to a 5-4 record this season. He ranks 10th nationally in passiing efficiency with a 159.9 rating.

The other semifinalists, in alphabetical order, are Erik Ainge (Tennessee), John Beck (BYU), John David Booty (USC), Colt Brennan (Hawaii), Brian Brohm (Louisville), Chad Henne (Michigan), Kevin Kolb (Houston), Chris Leak (Florida), Nate Longshore (California), Colt McCoy (Texas), Tyler Palko (Pittsburgh), Brady Quinn (Notre Dame), JaMarcus Russell (LSU), Troy Smith (Ohio State), John Stocco (Wisconsin), Pat White (West Virginia) and Jared Zabransky (Boise State).

The O'Brien Selection Committee will narrow the field to three finalists later this month, and they will be announced on Nov. 21.

The winner of the Davey O'Brien Award will be announced on ESPN's Home Depot College Football Awards Show on Dec. 7. Recommended Stories
