Eddie Sutton was released from Stillwater Medical Center this afternoon after what doctors believe is an allergic reaction Friday morning to a new prescription medication. The 70-year-old Sutton was found slumped over the steering wheel of his car at a Stillwater convenience store around 9:30 a.m. and taken by ambulance to the hospital.

"The ER physician stated that Mr. Sutton is not under the influence of alcohol; however a possible reaction to new medication prescribed by his physician may be the cause of this incident," read a statement released by Stillwater Medical Center. "The physician expects the patient to be evaluated and released sometiime today."

Sutton reportedly was mostly unresponsive when police officers and parademics arrived at the convenience store around 9:30 Friday morning, according to Stillwater police.

Sutton retired after last season with 798 career wins, and his son Sean has taken over as head coach of the Cowboys.

The OSU basketball team opens the 2006-07 season tonight with an exhibition game against Pittsburg (Kans.) State at Gallagher-Iba Arena.
