Recruiting: Swindall Goes Off Thursday Night

Tramain Swindall

A 200-yard receiving game for a wide receiver is like a 300-yard rushing night for a running back. In Oklahoma City Millwood's 45-10 win over district rival Heritage Hall that is just what Tramain Swindall had Thursday night. He finished with eight receptions for 205 yards and three touchdowns (34, 14 and 31 yards).

Swindall showed he could run short routes, outside, over the middle, and the first touchdown came on a deep route that quarterback Gerald Jones hit him on in stride in the end zone.

"The off season I worked really hard, did seven-on-seven a lot, got in the weight room because we really want to make a statement our senior year," said the 6-3, 175-pound pass catcher that also had an interception on defense at safety. "I knew I had to get better and I did that and it is showing up now. I try to be an all-around receiver. People think that I am just a short route player, but I can go on longer routes and make the big play and get yards after the catch. I'm just trying to show what I can do."

One of the Millwood assistant coaches compares Tramain to another Millwood great, Rashaun Woods. That coach should know because it is Gary Woods, Woods' older brother.

"It is, and that is great to get recognized with Rashaun," said Swindall. "He was a great player and I'm trying to do my best to follow in his footsteps."

As for his recruiting, Swindall has been verbally committed to Texas Tech since the summer, but there's bad news for Mike Leach. Swindall isn't through looking around.

"Lately, Tennessee and Arkansas have been on me real hard," said Swindall. "I'm still committed to Texas Tech but hey, you never know what can happen."

Especially when Swindall says he will take more visits than just one to Lubbock.

"Yes, I'm still going to take my visits so I can show my parents what they think about everything so I can make the right decision with their help," Swindall said while still smiling from a 200-yard receiving night.
