What are Juinior’s strengths as a football player?
Lineweaver: I think his intelligence. He understands the schemes, he understands what we’re trying to accomplish in the play. Of course, his size is something that people notice. If he didn’t have that stature the Cowboys wouldn’t be interested. He has the height, weight and strength. I didn’t know if he’d do this when he was a younger kid but he will get his face mask down there about knee high if that defensive guy gets down that low. He will get down and root them out of there. In summary, he has the tenacity and toughness that goes along with his stature, and his intelligence.
What do you think will be the biggest transition for him moving from the high school game to the Big 12 Conference?
Lineweaver: There are going to be guys two inches taller than him and there are going to be guys 20 to 30 pounds heavier. He’s going to be one amongst others that were outstanding players in high school.
Do you think he has a chance to make an instant impact or will there be an adjustment period for him?
Lineweaver: I have a high regard for the caliber of (OSU’s) play and the caliber of opponents, so I wouldn’t be surprised if he needed a redshirt year, particularly at his position on the offensive line. I think it would be good for him to redshirt.
Why do you think he chose Oklahoma State?
Lineweaver: Honestly, (former OSU offensive line) coach (Joe) Wickline was a bulldog in recruiting and showed his desire and wanted him. I’ve never heard of anybody, even a regular student, that didn’t really enjoy it at Oklahoma State, so I think his visit was probably the clincher.
What do you think he is capable of accomplishing over the course of his college career at OSU?
Lineweaver: He’s going to help them win. It’s not like they didn’t already know how to win before, but I think he’s going to continue to be one of those cogs that they’ve had over the years that will keep the engine going.
What will you remember the most about coaching him?
Lineweaver: I could count on him. He’s so reliable. He’s going to be there every day with a smile on his face. When we’re talking about the game plan, he’s looking at you with intensity, with a look that says, ‘Yeah, coach. I’m with you. We’re going to get that done.’
