Monster Recruiting Weekend Planned

For the fourth straight recruiting season Oklahoma State will use a monster visit weekend as the centerpiece of its on-campus recruiting. Recruiting coordinator Johnny Barr and assistant Mike Groce, as well as Benny Tonga. will have a lot of work coming up when the Cowboys end up hosting 18 recruits for official visits on Friday, Jan. 17.

Of OSU's current list of 25 commitments, running back Devon Thomas (December visit) and quarterback Mason Rudolph are already on campus.

Junior college linebacker Devante Averette, who is a mid-year transfer, visited for the Kansas State game. Another junior college mid-year transfer Tyreek Hill has never made an official visit. Current defensive line pledge Trey Carter visited officially for the Baylor game and running back Sione Palelei visited for the Bedlam game.

The official visit weekend will start with arrival Friday mid to late afternoon and include a dinner on Friday. Most of the campus and academic tours are on Saturday as well as looking at the football and the living facilities. There is another big meal on Saturday night and then free time. A breakfast and meetings with the player and his family wrap up the visit on Sunday morning.
