The old adage is, "It's more important to beat your friends than it is to beat your enemies," or "it's more important to beat your friends than to beat strangers." The meaning of either quote is that a person is always going to spend more time with friends and that means if a person loses to them there is more opportunity for them to remind you of the outcome whether it is intentional or not.

Thanks to four wins in a row in the series, including blow outs the last two seasons with a 66-6 win in Lubbock in 2011 and a 59-21 win at Boone Pickens Stadium in Stillwater last November, the Cowboys have had all the bragging rights.
