"I've been playing good and we are off to a 2-0 start," said Williams, who committed to Oklahoma State after attending a camp there this summer. "We beat (Covington) St. Paul 34-12. I missed that game because of a problem (fight) at school. Then we beat (New Orleans) St. Augustine 34-24. A big showdown game with big crowd. I played good in that one, got to the quarterback a few times."
The game this Thursday with Curtis will be televised and can be viewed several places on the Internet. I know that Williams had a really good preseason as he was credited with a safety after slinging the ball carrier down for a loss in the scrimmage with Bonnabel in the Kiwanis Jamboree.
As for his recruitment, nothing has changed. Williams remains committed to Oklahoma State despite offers from the likes of Arizona State, Arkansas, Miami (Fla.), and Southern Miss.
"Nothing going to change there," he said. "I'm still committed, and so is Juwan (Offray)."
Offray is a teammate on the Karr defense and a cornerback for the Cougars.
The state of Louisiana will be rocking Thursday night with a huge high school football showdown. New Orleans (Edna Karr) defensive lineman Joyan Williams can't wait. The Karr Cougars (2-0) ranked at the top of the state as defending champs will take on River Ridge (John Curtis) currently ranked number two in the state. The 6-3, 265-pound Williams will be a factor.
