This week's game: Brailford and his teammates won the Tulsa All-City Classic (a preseason event) on Saturday night, but the season officially opens next Friday against Oklahoma City Douglass.

DeSoto High School (DeSoto, Texas)
This week's game: Lacy caught three passes for 74 yards, including a 59-yard touchdown early in the game to give his team an early lead, as DeSoto rolled to a 46-7 victory over Arlington Martin in the season opener for both teams.

Klein Oak High School (Spring, Texas)
This week's game: The Klein Oak Panthers suffered a heartbreaking loss to open the season Friday night. Klein Oak tied the game 31-31 on a blocked punt that was returned for a touchdown with 39 seconds remaining in the fourth quarter and appeared to be heading to overtime. But Houston Langham Creek won the game on a 40-yard field goal as time expired for a 34-31 victory.

Matthew Mucha, OT (6-6,255)
Clear Lake High School (Houston, Texas)
This week's game: Mucha and the Clear Lake offensive line did the job as the Falcons averaged more than five yards per rushing attempt (210 yards on 41 carries), and running back Nicholas McGee had 164 rushing yards. But it wasn't enough as Deer Park won 37-31 in overtime Friday night.

Next game: Thursday, Sept. 5, vs. Pasadena Memorial.

This week's game: Offray, Joyan Williams (see below) and the Edna Karr Cougars open the season next Friday at St. Paul.

Justin Phillips, LB (5-11, 190)
Pearland School (Pearland, Texas)
This week's game: Phillips and the Pearland defense was outstanding in limiting Houston Madison to just 81 total yards and six first downs while forcing five turnovers in Friday night's season-opening 49-0 victory.

Next game: Friday, Sept. 6, vs. Fort Bend Kempner.

Ramon Richards, Ath. (6-1, 190)
Brackenridge High School (San Antonio, Texas)
This week's game: Richards, who plays quarterback, accounted for five touchdowns in Brackenridge's 63-0 season-opening victory over Sam Houston on Friday night. Richards completed 4 of 9 passes for 91 yards, including TDs of 34 and 28 yards, and also added a two-point conversion pass. He also was his team's leading rusher with 108 yards and three scores on just nine carries. Richards scored on runs of 15, 1 and 43 yards.

Trey Roberts, Ath. (6-1, 190)
Eisenhower High School (Houston, Texas)
This week's game:As reported by Scout.com's Ahmard Vital, who was in attendance at the game, Roberts played both quarterback and wide receiver throughout Eisenhower's 14-13 loss to Fort Bend Hightower on Friday night. Roberts was 4-of-8 passing for 77 yards with one touchdown and one interception, while also rushing for 22 yards on five carries.

Mason Rudolph, QB (6-4, 220)
Northwestern High School (Rock Hill, S.C.)
This week's game: Rudolph scored three touchdowns – all on 1-yard runs – and threw for two more as Northwestern defeated Charlotte Catholic 38-17 on Friday night. Rudolph was 25-of-34 passing for 267 yards with the two TDs and one interception. He threw scoring passes of 36 and 45 yards to Quadarius Fair, who had a team-best 10 receptions for 153 yards. Rudolph also rushed for 39 yards on 10 carries, including the three short TD runs. Rudolph threw his first interception of the season in the second quarter and it was costly as it was returned 77 yards for a Charlotte Catholic touchdown.
