Oklahoma State added the 17th verbal commitment for the 2014 recruiting class on Thursday with DeSoto, Texas wide receiver Chris Lacy. Lacy made an unofficial visit to Stillwater this summer and that appeared to be the key as Lacy said he wanted to commit on that visit. The 6-3, 185-pound receiver called Cowboys receivers coach Kasey Dunn early on Thursday afternoon.

"I called about an hour ago," said Chris Lacy at 3:15 this afternoon. "I really wanted to commit on my unofficial visit earlier this summer but I was going to make a visit to Arizona State. I never made the visit but I decided that I wanted to go ahead and commit and wanted to do it before the season starting."

Lacy was an emerging receiver for the powerhouse Eagles program last season with 29 catches in his junior season for 339 yards and three touchdowns.

Lacy is a speedster in track and has run a reported 4.45 in the forty, faster than what Scout has listed him. He had an offer from Arizona State, Iowa, Kansas, Missouri, Nebraska, and Northwestern. He also was recruited by Arkansas, Ohio State, BYU, Houston, TCU, and Texas A&M. He attended camps this summer with Houston and Texas A&M among others.

"It was mainly Arizona State and Nebraska that I was considering with Oklahoma State," said Lacy of his recruitment. "I love the campus. I saw the Student Union and it is fantastic and the engineering building and that is what I plan to major in.

"The football facilities are awesome from the weight room to the locker room. It is all really great, as good as it is anywhere."

Lacy said his summer activity has primarily been working out and getting ready for the upcoming season. Lacy added that he and his DeSoto teammates will open up with Arlington Martin. Of course, Arlington Martin has been good but especially good in the kicking game producing OSU freshman kicker Ben Grogan and current TCU kicker Jaden Oberkrom.

This is the 17th overall commitment for Oklahoma State, which is expected to take a full class of 25 signees in 2014. Lacy is the second wide receiver commitment joining Class A All-State wide receiver James Washington of Stamford, Texas.

Oklahoma State will likely be looking for a couple of other receivers in the class.
