Interest Picking Up For Jenks Safety

Dylan Harding

Jenks will open up the Oklahoma Class 6A Baseball State Tournament with Yukon, and Dylan Harding will be patroling the outfield for the Trojans and he might do a few innings on the mound. There is more to Harding than just making tackles and picking off opponent's passes in the fall. The 6-2, 187-pound Harding has really good physical skills.

"I'm looking forward to the baseball tournament this weekend and then next Monday it's back to football," he said.

There will be a few football coaches coming through wanting to check out Harding, including Oklahoma State and likely Jason Ray, who is working in-state for the Cowboys.

"Oklahoma State has talked to me a lot," said Harding. "They want me to come down on June 8 and come to their camp.

"They have told me that they want to play me at the star (linebacker) position and want to see my lateral movement and run through drills in camp at that position since I haven't played it and then they will go from there. They have shown a lot of interest."

Showing scholarship interest already are North Carolina, Memphis, Tulsa, UTSA, and Colorado State.

"I've started getting stuff from Texas and Texas Tech," Harding said. "The coach from Oregon State says he is coming through to see me and he thinks they will offer a scholarship but he needs to see me in person first."

Harding feels pretty good about the attention after making 75 tackles and picking off four passes as a junior for the Trojans. This weekend he will be looking for base hits, RBIs, and running down fly balls.
