Spring Finale: Best of Quotes

We can't take much from the spring game. It was 60 minutes of rolling-clock scrimmage to keep fans passionate about the program. A minor sneak peak at the season to come. But there's still plenty of storylines as Oklahoma State prepares for the brutal heat of two-a-days come August.

Here's a collection of quotes following the Cowboys' spring finale at Boone Pickens Stadium:

Mike Gundy
On the wide receivers: "We did drop balls today. I thought we dropped four or five passes we should have caught. But other than that, I thought the kids had a good day.

On the two-quarterback set the Cowboys used: "Those guys out there, they came up with some plays for the spring game … They have a lot of fun with it."

On playing faster: "Our pace is going to be quick. Our tempo is fast, if not faster, than it ever has been."

On restricting quarterback media access until after the first game: "We're not really going to talk about (who the starting quarterback is) from this point on. There's no reason for us to talk about what our quarterback situation is."

On an improved defense: "Our defense and their approach has been very challenging to our offense this spring. It's the first time I've seen that in years."

CB Justin Gilbert
On what he saw on his second interception return: "A lot of green. I got tired at the end, so I got caught."

On an improved mindset: "When you step on the field, are you going to feel tense and scared? Or are you going to feel loose and like you're supposed to be there? That's how it felt today."

WR Blake Jackson
On his outlook this season: "My confidence is finally at that level where I need it to be. I feel like I was ready last year, but it's just the mental difference of the Division I game. I really am excited to get into the fall, and I'm glad I was able to finish the spring on a good note."

LB Caleb Lavey
On returning an interception for a touchdown in the spring game: "I've never felt that before, but it felt pretty good. I was tired afterword. I didn't realize 50 yards could seem so long. It was fun. I enjoyed it. I got to celebrate with my teammates. It was a lot of fun."

RB Jeremy Smith
On why he's glad the defense stepped up: "Just to see how far they came, just to see them execute so great today was a big stride."
