For once, the effort, attitude and desire were largely there for West Virginia. But execution wasn't for long stretches, and guard Juwan Staten said that was what doomed the Mountaineers to a 61-56 loss to Kansas on Monday.

Forward Aaric Murray was frank in discussing his future, saying he had been thinking about it in recent days. Many had supposed Murray would leave West Virginia after one season, but the transfer called that notion into question by saying he "can't leave like this."

Coach Bob Huggins said the team's late letdown offensively was the result of players simply not executing what was planned for them to do. He also spent considerable time discussing Murray and offered a few thoughts on the psychology of this particular WVU team.
