"It is still exciting to come down here and visit and realize that this is within reach and that I'm living the dream," said the 6-5, 310-pound offensive tackle prospect out of St. Louis (Mary Institute and Country Day School), Mo.
"There are a lot of high school players that had the goal to play at a great high Division I program, and I'm getting that opportunity at Oklahoma State."
Kurzu was All-State and All-Metro as a junior after moving to Missouri out of famed St. Thomas Aquinas High School in Fort Lauderdale, Fla., where he played and lettered as a freshman. His team was a state runner-up in Missouri as a junior, but this year was a rebuilding season and a tough one for the Rams.
"I still would not trade it for anything," said Kurzu showing loyalty. "I had the chance to play one more time with my high school teammates and for coaches that did a lot for me."
As for more from his visit to Oklahoma State this weekend...
"It was amazing to get to meet some of the other guys in the class. I had met Zach (Crabtree) and Jaxon (Salinas), but to meet so many of the other recruits and some aren't (committed) with us yet but hopefully will be on our side soon enough," said Kurzu, sounding like a recruiter.
"To meet guys on the team like Travis Cross, Parker Graham and Michael Wilson was great and to be around the coaches. It was an exciting weekend."
While riding home on Sunday afternoon Kurzu updated us on his size at 6-5, 310 pounds. He said his bench press max is up to 310 pounds and his squat is at 605 pounds. This spring he will again throw the shot and discus at MICDS.
