Justin Cox signed with Mississippi State after a standout prep career at West Point High School that included a pair of state titles. Cox added another championship ring to his collection last fall as he helped East Mississippi to a NJCAA National Championship. Cox is now ready to bring his winning ways to Starkville to help Dan Mullen win a championship at Mississippi State.

"I committed to Mississippi State," said Cox. "I just talked to Coach Mullen and Coach Hughes.

"Coach Mullen told me that he was going to happy for the rest of the night."

Cox was able to speak with his area recruiting coach, Tony Hughes, after making his decision official.

"Coach Hughes and I have a great bond," said Cox. "He always calls me a lot and he always has something good to say.

"We have a real good relationship."

Cox took some time to be certain about his decision before pulling the trigger the second time around, but he reports his plan was to always be a Bulldog.

"To tell you the truth, I always wanted to be a Dog," said Cox. "I just wanted to go through the process and see what all was out there, but I was always going to be a Bulldog."

The Bulldog secondary will be losing three starters next fall, but that was not the factor some may think.

"It didn't really matter to me who was going to be there," said Cox. "I was going to come in and work hard to get a spot on the field.

"They have all of those guys leaving, so I know I am going to have to go in and step up.

"They are talking about me playing corner, but I will play safety or corner. It doesn't really matter to me.

"I just want to help the team."

Cox chose the Bulldogs over offers from Alabama, Arkansas, Georgia, Nebraska, Oklahoma State, Ole Miss, Tennessee and many others.

The four star standout is the 20th public commitment for Mississippi State towards the 2013 signing class.

Cox will officially visit Mississippi State the weekend of December 7th and then enroll for the spring semester in Starkville.
