Posted Mar 5, 2012

On the heels of the end of the regular season, two Oklahoma State Cowboys earned recognition for their efforts on the basketball court. One of the awards was a first in the history of the program.

Cowboy freshman Le’Bryan Nash was named the co-Big 12 Conference freshman of the year, sharing the award with Baylor’s Quincy Miller. OSU senior captain Keiton Page was named second team all-conference.

Nash is the first Oklahoma State player to ever receive the freshman of the year award. Nash was named the preseason Big 12 freshman of the year. The Dallas native had the highest scoring average of any freshman in the conference.

Nash, who is out of the lineup with a fractured left hand, averaged 13.3 points per game and also contributed five rebounds and 1.5 assists per contest.

Nash was named to the Big 12 All-Rookie Team, as well as honorable mention all-conference. He was joined on the all-newcomer team by Miller, Iowa State's Royce White, Baylor’s Pierre Jackson and Texas point guard Myck Kabongo.

Page earned postseason honors for the second consecutive year after earning honorable mention all-Big 12 as a junior.

The “Pawnee Pistol” led the Cowboys in scoring with 16.8 points per game but he played his best in league games. In conference play, Page averaged 18.8 points per game and has averaged 27 in the past five games.

Page is the school’s all-time leader in 3-pointers and minutes played and ranks seventh all-time in scoring.

The 5-foot-9 Cowboy senior was joined on the second team by Kansas State’s Rodney McGruder, Missouri’s Ricardo Ratliffe and the Baylor duo of Quincy Acy and Pierre Jackson.

The All-Big 12 First Team was comprised of Kansas’ Thomas Robinson and Tyshawn Taylor, Texas’ J’Covan Brown, Iowa State’s Royce White and Missouri’s Marcus Denmon.
