"Oklahoma State was always my favorite, and since I came back for the junior day I just needed to talk to my momma about it," said Ross. "I did and I was ready to commit and be a Cowboy."
Ross was offered at the Oklahoma State junior day. He is a very good prospect that we have at 6-1, 180 pounds and runs around a 4.5.
Last season he tore it up with 99 receptions for 1,335 yards and 15 touchdowns. He averaged 13.5 yards per catch. He also lined up some in the backfield for a very strong Class 4A semifinalist. He carried 33 times for 460 yards and six touchdowns. That is an average of 13.9 yards a carry!
He is also a standout in basketball that averages right around 12 points a game for the Lions. He has offers from West Virginia, Baylor, Missouri and Mississippi State among others.
Ross is a very good starting point for the 2013 class.
So, did it help that defensive end Eric Davis from this season's 14-2 Tyler (John Tyler) team is heading to Stillwater as part of the 2012 Oklahoma State recruiting class? Or that a guy named Kendall Hunter, current San Francisco 49ers running back who is a John Tyler alum, went to OSU?
"Yes sir," answered Ross. "That helps because I know those guys, and I know that guys from my school have done well at OSU."
How about Oklahoma State's success throwing the football? "Yes sir, that helped too," answered Ross.
Ross added that his basketball season ended Friday night with a loss to Ennis. Ross has had a strong season and he told us he really loves basketball, but now moves on to his third sport of the school year at John Tyler.
"I go to track on Monday," said Ross.
He will plan to get back to Oklahoma State sometime this spring to see some of the spring football practice. Ross added he is very comfortable and he is glad to have his college decision taken care of early.
