Wilson Enjoys Another Good Trip To OSU

Dontre Wilson

We originally caught up with standout running back Dontre Wilson of DeSoto Texas, last night after he had attended Junior Day activities at Oklahoma State, but was with his family eating at Chili's. He called us back early Sunday afternoon to update us on his thoughts after spending the day at Oklahoma State.

"I had a good visit and I like Oklahoma State," said Dontre Wilson, who is showing up as one of the top all-purpose running back prospects in the 2013 class. "I spent some time with Coach (Doug) Meacham, Coach (Jemal) Singleton, and Coach (Mike) Gundy. It was a good trip."

Wilson told us that Oklahoma State is the last Junior Day he has plans to attend as of now, and that he was also at Texas and Texas A&M for Junior Days.

"Spring break, I am going to go to Oregon for a visit," he added.

Saturday's trip to Oklahoma State wasn't his first to Stillwater. He has seen some of the Cowboys big athletic conquests this school year. Wilson and his dad were at the basketball game on Saturday at Gallagher-Iba Arena and saw Keiton Page score 40 points and Dallas (Lincoln) freshman LeBryan Nash score 18 points as the Cowboys knock off Texas.

Last December he was at Bedlam as OSU beat Oklahoma 44-10 to win the Big 12 in football.

"I was there (for Bedlam) and I was on the field after the game and then I was in the locker room," he said.

The 5-10, 180-pound Wilson has sub-4.5 speed and is equally adept at catching the ball out of the backfield as running the football. Last season he rushed 127 times for 767 yards and 15 touchdowns. He caught 12 passes for 246 yards and two more touchdowns.

"I'm looking for a place where I am comfortable and can play in an offense that fits so that I can contribute," explained Wilson.

The Cowboys definitely appear to be in the mix for one of the top prospects in Texas. There are a lot of schools that are very interested in Wilson.
