Long Likes What He Sees at Oklahoma State

Andrew Long

Running back Andrew Long of Moore (Southmoore), Okla., is a tremendous prospect and part of a nice running back class in the state of Oklahoma. Long rushed for 1,499 yards and 18 touchdowns on just 206 carries last season.

As a sophomore, Long rushed for 1,542 yards and 9 touchdowns on 208 carries. The 5-9, 174-pound Long is a proven commodity and he runs a (hand-timed) 4.37 in the forty.

Long recently was in Stillwater for the Cowboys Junior Day.

"It was super nice and it really changed my perspective of Oklahoma State," said Long, admitting he has grown up an OU fan. "I like OSU too now. We got to see everything and spent time with the coaches. I was in the meeting with Coach Kasey (Dunn), the new coach on the staff. He played wide receiver but he has coached running backs."

Long said he has received correspondence from the likes of Nebraska, Arizona, Iowa State, UCLA, Tulsa, Colorado, and Colorado State.

"I think I will hear from more schools after I take the ACT this weekend," added Long, who is near a 4.0 with his GPA. "I'm not sure what I want to major in. I was thinking Business or Sports Medicine but I'm not sure."

From a football standpoint, he would like to be contacted by OU, but he's going to focus on the schools that have contacted and have an interest.

He is trying to decide whether to participate in power lifting and track as he did last offseason. A hamstring injury in track that put him off in preparation for last football season has him re-thinking that. He also said he is open to playing another position.

"I would rather be a running back, but if it takes moving to a slot receiver or another position to get on the field then I Will Do it."

Having seen plenty of Andrew Long in person, I can tell you this young man is a real deal football player.
