Barry Sanders Checks Out Florida State

In the never ending world of recruiting, the work on the next class starts well before the end of the current recruiting season and that continued this weekend. In Oklahoma, OSU held a Junior Day that lasted most of Saturday afternoon, and OU will host a Junior Day on Sunday. While those schools were busy hosting members of the class of 2012, one member of that class in Oklahoma was in Florida.

"I'm down in Florida and I was at Florda State today for their Junior Day," said Oklahoma City Heritage Hall running back Barry J. Sanders. "It went really well and I was pleased with what we saw and found out. I'm really just looking at atmosphere and trying to see in I can see myself at a place for the next four or five years."

Sanders, who rushed for 1,168 yards and 16 touchdowns on only 96 carries this season after having his season ended with an injury, is one of the highest rated recruits in the nation for next season.

He told us that his plans for this winter also include a Junior Day at Alabama on Feb. 16, and possibly going to a Junior Day at Notre Dame on Feb. 22.

"Yes, Florida State and Alabama are in my top four, along with Oklahoma State and I would say UCLA," confirmed Sanders. "Those are the top four for now."

Sanders has handled being in the limelight very well. He made it again this month along with sensational teammate at Heritage Hall in Sterling Shepard, who was scheduled to attend Oklahoma State's Junior Day on Saturday. The pair of Chargers playmakers are featured in the new issue of ESPN The Magazine. Check out page 113 and you will see Sanders and Shepard decked out in western wear.

"They took about a thousand pictures that day for one picture," laughed Sanders. "You say it looks good? I haven't seen it. I've been trying to find a copy. We went out and took that at Ross Clifton's, one of our teammates at Heritage Hall, his ranch out near Piedmont."

This is going to be an interesting recruiting story to follow as Sanders has truly become a national recruit, and honestly, became a national recruit several years ago as his high school career got underway.
